FROM THE FAMOUS FOX: TREATING A FOX’S ARTHRITIS

Jasper is a white fox rescued from a Minnesota fur farm in July 2020. CONTRIBUTED

Hi friends! Reef the fox here with this week’s “Reef’s Report.”

For those of you who follow us on social media, you may have seen that mom got a new dresser in our (her) room. Coral and I have used this new treasure to make an obstacle course. We jump from the bed to the floor to the short dresser and then to the tall dresser. Sometimes we jump from the desk down to our big round bed like little fluffy missiles. Mom said it’s “parkour,” whatever that means, but boy oh boy, it sure is fun.

Our Uncle Jasper fox has started getting needle acupuncture for his arthritis. Aside from the laser pulse therapy he already gets, mom has incorporated this into his treatment. Obviously our vet does this but let me tell you, Jasper just lies there while they put needles all over him. That’s a little bit too much for me. I can’t even sit still for a nail trim.

We have some fun happenings this week in the Keys. First on deck is Thursday, June 16, in Islamorada. The Morada Way Art Walk is from 6 to 9 p.m. Enjoy a relaxing evening perusing local fine art, imbibing local craft beer and wine, listening to music and seeing your favorite people.

On Friday, June 17, Mangroves Matter Kayak Tour at Curry Hammock State Park takes place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Go explore their mangrove tunnel with an optional sandbar stop. This free, guided experience should not be missed when passing through the middle Keys.

So that’s all for this week. Check us out at pawsitivebeginnings.org to keep up with all things fox.

Until next time, Reef, over and out!
