GOLFIN’ CONCH STYLE – Funds raised for school, community programs

It was a “par-tee” of all sorts during the annual golfing-on-the-water tournament, the Conch Scramble, on Sept. 28. Participants decked out in costumes made several stops along the bayside in Islamorada as they hit biodegradable golf balls on a floating green. Those who shanked it left or pulled it right were feeding the fish, as balls turned into food. The Conch Scramble is a nonprofit organization, and money raised from the event will go to the Key Largo School Parent Teacher Association, Coral Shores High School Culinary Program and Islamorada Firefighters Explorer Program.
