There are two upcoming Florida Keys Healthy Start Coalition Car Safety Seat Installation Events. Saturday August 20 from 9am- 1pm at Centennial Bank located at 11290 Overseas Hwy Marathon and on Saturday, September 24 from 9am- 1pm Centennial Bank- 100280 Overseas Hwy in Key Largo.
Three out of four child safety seats are used improperly in vehicles, according to research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. That’s why the Florida Keys Healthy Start Coalition is urging all Key West parents and caregivers to attend one of the childrens’ car seat installation and inspection events.
During this event, certified child passenger safety technicians will be available to properly install children’s car seats, inspect previously installed seats and advise parents on appropriate child passenger safety. New infant, convertible and booster car seats will be available for Keys families. In order to continue this program, a $25 donation is requested for any new seats provided.
The car seat installation and inspection events are part of the Monroe County Child Passenger Safety Campaign funded by the Florida Department of Transportation. These monthly events will rotate between the Lower, Middle and Upper Keys through September 2011.
