ISLAMORADA BOAT RAMPS SET TO CLOSE THROUGHOUT THE FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND

Barriers installed at Blackwood Drive Ramp. VILLAGE OF ISLAMORADA/Contributed

The public boat ramps at East Ridge Road and Blackwood Drive will be closed to boat launching from 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 2 through 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5.

The barriers used to close the ramps to boats do allow access for kayaks and paddleboards. The Islamorada Village Council agreed on the closures of the residential neighborhood boat ramps beginning in 2021 to minimize negative impacts on village residents during lobster mini-season and crowded holiday weekends.

The boat ramp at the Plantation Yacht Harbor Marina at Founders Park will be open from 8 a.m. to 6  p.m. throughout the holiday weekend. Non-resident fees are $20 each way ($40 round trip.) When the trailer parking lot is full, restrictions will apply.

Visitors are also encouraged to support the local economy by using private marina facilities.

The water access point on Indian Key remains closed for repairs.
