The Florida Keys History & Discovery Center is resuming its lecture series this fall with programs exploring the food, folklore, history and culture of Florida and the Keys.
The lecture series offers opportunities to dig deeper into the stories that shape the region. They are an easy way to discover the center, meet others interested in local history and hear from speakers with unique expertise and perspectives.
Lectures are held at the center on the grounds of the Islander resort. Each evening begins with a social hour at 5 p.m., before the lecture begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are free for members and $10 for non-members.
The fall 2026 schedule includes:
Oct. 14: Local chefs panel.
Oct. 28: Ghost stories of South Florida.
Nov. 11: The 14th Colony: the American Revolution’s best kept secret.
Dec. 9: The Florida sponge war: conflict between Key West and the Gulf towns.
The lecture series is part of the center’s effort to connect the community with the history, ecology and cultural heritage of the Keys — from familiar local stories to chapters of Florida history that may be entirely new to audiences.
