LAST RUN OF 2021 BENEFITS A POSITIVE STEP

Don your festive holiday jammies and join the 13th A Positive Step 5K Rudolph Red Nose Run – the PJs edition, taking place at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, starting and ending at the Southernmost Beach Café, 1405 Duval St., Key West. Race day check-in starts at 7 a.m. After the race, enjoy refreshments, prizes and a silent auction, which is also available online at apsmc.org.

Pre-race packet pickup is from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17 at the Southernmost Beach Café. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. The first 100 registrants receive a free T-shirt.

The run is brought to you by A Positive Step of Monroe County – a non-profit organization serving Monroe County’s highest risk kids and their families since 1999 – and the Key West Southernmost Runners Club. Donations are tax-deductible; proceeds benefit APSMC. COVID-19 safety protocols will be observed. Prizes will be awarded for the most festive and unusual pajamas.

Bidding for the silent auction will end right after the race on Dec. 18. Auction items include collectibles from the NFL players association, jewelry from Pacific Jewelry, Mel Fisher’s Treasures and 7 Artists & Friends Gallery. There is also original artwork, restaurant gift certificates and hotel stays.

A Positive Step of Monroe County seeks to identify unmet needs within our community, and to provide innovative, evidence-based services to meet those needs. Our ultimate goal is to improve outcomes for the juveniles and families we serve while protecting the public by reducing juvenile crime and dependency in Florida.

APSMC has various programs including the “Idle Hands” summer youth program and the Southernmost Fatherhood Initiative, serving high-risk fathers who are in or out of jail. APSMC has also recently developed a fill-in-the-gaps program to help with the COVID-19 response. More information is at apsmc.org.
