The Waterfront Playhouse on Mallory Square officially opens its 85th season with the musical comedy, “Little Shop of Horrors.”
Directed and staged by Tom Thayer, “LIttle Shop of Horrors” features music by Alan Menken and lyrics and a book by Howard Ashman. The story follows a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The musical is loosely based on the low-budget 1960 film “The Little Shop of Horrors.”
Jordan Thomas Burnett returns to the Waterfront Playhouse as Seymour. Talitha McDougall Jones returns as Audrey. Key West’s Bruce Moore plays dentist Dr. Orin Scrivello. Mathias Maloff, recently seen in “The Rocky Horror Show,” plays Mushnik. Jack D’Emilio plays the derelict and a host of other characters while Mariah Woesnner, Damaria Quick and Ervin Tumm play the urchins. Audrey II is voiced by Richard Quint with Zachary Franchini bringing her to life.
‘Little Shop of Horrors’ at Waterfront Playhouse
Following a preview on Wednesday, Nov. 29, the show will officially open on Thursday Nov. 30. Performances will continue Tuesday through Saturday at 8 p.m. through Dec. 16 with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Dec. 9.
