The fans are loving the Marathon High School boys basketball run towards victory. The Dolphins travel to play Palmer Trinity for the district championship this Friday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. It’s been a good run: The Marathon boys basketball team was on the road last week, traveling to Key West on Feb. 6, where they made fritters out of the Conchs with a score of 85-73. This was the first road victory for the Dolphins in Key West in 25 years. “It was a total team effort,” said Coach Kevin Freeman. “The role players stepped up and made big play after big play. We found ourselves down 20 in the first half but continued to battle back and finally took the lead in the fourth quarter and didn’t look back!” The Dolphins were on the road Feb. 8 to play Gulliver Prep; Marathon lost that game to the Raiders 91-83. Then they were on the road again Feb. 11, where they beat Palm Glades Prep in the district championship semifinals. Down by 6 with a minute on the clock, the Fins battled back to win 80-76.
