Key West resident Christie Stewart created Waggin’ Meals, a farm-to-table dog food company,
after her 14-year-old best friend Jack (a dachshund) was diagnosed with liver disease.
“Our veterinarian said we needed to start feeding him a prescription diet plan or make his meals. Unfortunately, my friend Jack only lasted one night before we had to say good-bye. After many tears and a trip to the farmers market, I set out to create a simple yet wholesome alternative to store-bought dog food and treats for my other two precious dogs.
“I started making healthy meals with the wholesome ingredients that our dogs need to be healthy and thrive. I began giving them out to our friends and delivering the meals. Waggin Meals was formed, and it has been a journey of joy. It’s simple: humans love their animals and want the best for them. My passion is to provide the adequate and best nutrition for dogs everywhere around the nation.”
Waggin’ Meals is located at Stock Island Marina Village and recently helped two elementary school students host a fundraiser there for the Florida Keys SPCA.
