Batten down the hatches and heighten your senses. We have entered the wondrous and disarming time of eclipse season. On Aug. 12, we had a total solar eclipse in Leo, and a partial lunar eclipse will happen at the end of the month on Aug. 27-28. Eclipse seasons represent times when monumental changes occur in ways that we might not be able to clearly understand right away. The two luminaries, the sun and the moon, come together in such a way that their light becomes obscured, which also obscures our immediate knowledge of the events taking place. Under this eclipse, it is quite possible that we will experience the downfall of a leader, an ego death or an impactful lack of recognition. We are being reminded that we shouldn’t idolize our heroes because we risk deep disappointment, but rather we should learn how to personally embody the characteristics of our heroes that we find particularly worthy of respect and admiration. What we desire is not something to be found outside of ourselves, but something to be nurtured within ourselves. At the same time, we cannot wait for what we need to come to us; we must learn how to care for ourselves. The state or the government will not save us. We must create our own communities to meet our needs and the needs of those around us. This eclipse season, ask yourself what you have been willfully ignoring because that is the seed to life-changing awareness.
