Nervous? Happy? Ready?
As one, the cast of “Clue,” the Marathon High School Drama Club production chorused, “Yes!”
Thirty-three cast and crew members have been working diligently for the show on Friday and Saturday Nov. 15-16 in the school’s auditorium. The curtain is at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10, available at the door.
“It’s funny,” said director Carrollyn Cox. “They have me laughing. They’ve been doing a little improvisation and we’re keeping it.”
The play, “Clue,” is based loosely on the movie which is based loosely on the board game of the same name invented in the 1940s. So … was it Col. Mustard in the library with the knife? Or Mrs. Peacock in the kitchen with the gun? We can’t say, and the cast is being incredibly circumspect, too, careful not to reveal any spoilers.
The set is marvelous and the attention to detail with the props is stellar. Cox gives a lot of the credit to her normal crew of “drama mom and dads,” with special thanks to Rick Bisson, dad of Sawyer and Cory, who both have parts in the play.
Other highlights to look out for? The comedic timing of Charles Vaughn is spectacular, his peers say.
“He plays a REALLY good idiot,” said Mary Ryder, who plays Yvette, with real admiration.
There are also actors making out with “dead” actors, an eye-wateringly green sports coat worn by Mr. Green (naturally) played by Patrick Daniher, and the finale, of course.
“The ending is plot twist,” said Joseph Carbera, who plays the butler Wadsworth.
