This Week’s Dive Report
After a windy few weeks, we had very nice conditions for diving all of this week. Visibility was stellar, with turquoise waters and lots to see.
Lucky for us, we hosted a big underwater photography course in these amazing conditions. We certified a big group of divers from Scuba Adventures, out of Naples. Thanks for coming out with us, guys!
Next Week’s Dive Report
Next week looks great as well. Winds are going to stay down, and the clear visibility should stick around. These are those legendary Keys waters that people talk about for years.
Conservation Update
At the start of June, we helped restore the reefs as part of Coral Restoration Foundation’s annual “Coralpalooza” day. Divers from around the world take part in this weekend-long extravaganza restoring the reefs of the Florida Keys. Our boat went out to the Tavernier Nursery, where divers were able to clean coral trees with their own two hands in the world’s largest underwater nursery.
Many of the corals that CRF and I.CARE plant are in SPAs, or Sanctuary Preservation Areas. In SPAs, activity is limited to diving and snorkeling. We should see less “underway” boat traffic, which makes it safer to participate in these activities.
