On Tuesday, Treasure Village Montessori Charter School (TVM) in Islamorada celebrated their 8th graders graduating from middle school and moving onto high school. Even amidst the pandemic and torrential thunder and lightning storms, the teachers, staff and family pulled off a “plan C” event to remember. Graduates were called one by one to walk along the entire corridor, lined with their classmates, teachers and friends. Along the way, huge posters held out their “Sea Dragon story,” about their time at TVM, what they’ve accomplished and who they’ve become. Friends and family walked behind them with balloons, foam confetti and noisemakers, cheering them on their final celebratory lap at TVM.

Principal Kelly Mangel and TVM teachers prepared gifts for each 8th grader, which included their certificate, their “Sea Dragon story,” stuff from their locker and other goodies. TIFFANY DUONG/Keys Weekly
