“A.J. is a 4.4 student, leader in the school, great football player and even greater person.”
– ’Canes head coach Ed Holly

In the past two weeks, Hurricanes running back A.J. Putetti has run for over 400 yards and scored 5 touchdowns, the last of which sealed the win for Coral Shores against Palm Glades Prep last week. Putetti’s leadership and bull-like style of play has been integral in the team’s success. When there is no running room, Putetti makes his own, refusing to be denied a chance to put points on the board for the ’Canes. For his unyielding determination on the field and in the classroom, A.J. Putetti is the Keys Weekly Athlete of the Week.

Tracy McDonald fled to the Keys from the frozen mountains of Pennsylvania hours after graduating from college and never looked back. She is a second generation coach and educator, and has taught in the public school system for over 25 years. She and her husband met at a beginning teacher meeting in 1997 and have three children born and raised in Monroe County. In her free time, McDonald loves flea markets, historical fiction and long runs in the heat.
