ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Nicole Merryman

Track and Field
Nicole Merryman /Sophomore

What do you enjoy about being on the track team? I enjoy being part of something bigger than I am and the ability to work together to achieve a goal as a team.

How long have you been on the team? I started on the Marathon track team this year, although I’ve had prior experience being on a track team from where I used to live. I got into track because I love participating in the throwing field events. I also wanted to join because I wanted to meet new people in the school who have the same interests as me.

Describe one of your best moments in athletics. One of my greatest achievements was at the first track meet this year. I beat my personal record in shot put. It was a great feeling for me, because I really pushed myself to the max to show myself and my team what I can really do.

Coach McDonald says …  “Pay now or pay later,” which means I can do all the work now and do less work later. I look at it as do all the work now so that I can get better and better every day.
