“Parks is a fierce competitor who always races her heart out.” – Kelly Owens, Hurricane swim coach

Coral Shores junior Parks Dunn is making quite the splash this season. The endurance specialist swept the distance freestyle events at last week’s tri-meet at Founders Park, winning the 200-yard freestyle in 2:23.76 by a razor-thin 15 hundredths of a second before claiming the 500 freestyle in 6:28.

Dunn also swam legs of two winning relays, helping the Lady Hurricanes edge Key West 83-78. With just five points separating the Keys rivals, Dunn’s contributions proved especially valuable.

“Parks is an incredibly hard worker and encouraging teammate. She always has a positive attitude,” said Coral Shores coach Kelly Owens.

For her four victories and pivotal role in the Hurricanes’ narrow win, Dunn is the Keys Weekly Athlete of the Week.
