As picked and voted on by the people, this year’s Best of Upper Keys crowned winners in more than 80 categories.

Not only that, the event raised a record-breaking $31,437.28 for the Florida Keys Children’s Shelter thanks to sponsors and ticket sales.

A 50/50 drawing won by Sheriff Rick Ramsay on the night of the awards was given back to support the shelter. Thanks to Ramsay, the $2,200 in winnings helped break the fundraising record.

“I was glad to win, but I was even more proud and honored to return the money back to the children’s shelter to make this the best year yet,” Ramsay said.

From its launch in 2022, the Best of Upper Keys has raised more $100,000 to support the Florida Keys Children’s Shelter, which provides extensive programs — both residential and non-residential — for local youth. Since 1985, the shelter has helped and counseled thousands of children and families in their time of need.

“We’re thankful for all the support this event provides to the shelter,” said Ben Kemmer, CEO for the children’s shelter. “Every bit helps us keep doing what we do for the kids in our community.”

The fourth annual Best of Upper Keys was made possible thanks to the host sponsor Playa Largo Resort, which provided the venue, food and drinks for guests. Event sponsors include HNO Productions, First Horizon Bank, Baptist Health South Florida, Ocean Sotheby’s International Realty, H&R Block Key Largo, Going Aire and Overseas Media Group.

Stay tuned for details on the fifth annual Best of Upper Keys.
