County cases now at 24

Positive cases of COVID-19 in Monroe County rose to 24, the Florida Health Department reported Monday at 10 a.m.

Of the cases, 15 are travel-related. Six are community-acquired and three are currently under investigation. Five people are currently hospitalized. 

Of the 21 cases among locals, 13 are Key West residents and four are Key Largo residents. Two are Tavernier residents, while one is from Islamorada and one is from Summerland Key.

Of the residents, 15 are men and nine are women ages 19 to 80. 

A total of 173 tests have been conducted in Monroe County, with results of 49 tests still pending. Those tests coming back negative total 149. 

Statewide, 523 new positive COVID-19 cases were reported to the health department  — 508 Florida residents and 15 non-Florida residents. That brings confirmed cases now to 5,473. Of that total, 5,276 are Florida residents and 197 nonresidents. Sixty-three people have died from the coronavirus in the state.
