Shark Channel Bridge in the Lower Keys, shown here in 2022, is one of eight bridges slated for rehabilitation by the Florida Department of Transportation between late 2026 and late 2029. Public meetings will be held April 15, 23 and 30 in Marathon, Big Pine and Key West, respectively. CONTRIBUTED

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host three public meetings, all of which can be attended in person or virtually, to discuss the design of multiple bridge rehabilitation projects along U.S. 1 in Monroe County. The projects include concrete repairs on the beams, corrosion protection and repairs to damaged concrete and deck expansion joints.

Construction is expected to take place from fall 2026 through fall 2029.The total estimated cost for these projects is $13.9 million. Schedules and costs are subject to change.

Each meeting will include a formal presentation followed by an open discussion. Staff will be available to answer questions in the order received and as time permits. Questions not addressed during the meeting will receive a written response afterward.
