FROM THE FAMOUS FOX: SHERIFF’S FARM STARTED A FOX SANCTUARY ENDEAVOR IN KEY LARGO

Hi friends! Reef the fox here with this week’s “Reef’s Report.”

I have some breaking fox news for you all this week: Baby Kai has been accepted by yours truly. And by accepted I mean, I ignore him and allow him into my space. Now you may be thinking this isn’t progress, but trust me, it is. Kai has been sleeping in the back with us at night and on the days mom is off from work, he gets to stay in the back with us during the day. Coral, Jasper and Penny entertain him and my mom and I spend quality time together. So it’s safe to say this may be as good as it’s going to get, and that’s okay.

On Aug. 28, my mom spent some time at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Farm for their open house visiting all of the animals. Did you know that my mom started volunteering at the farm after Hurricane Irma and in 2018? Two foxes were surrendered to the farm and after learning more about them, she realized she needed to do something to help foxes that were being rescued from fur farms. Yep, that’s why I’m here. So I never get mad or jealous when my mom spends time with those foxes because they are the reason me and all my other fox friends here are safe.

A little birdie told me that the Critter Cruise for the Upper Keys Humane Society last Saturday was a big success, and a lot of fun. Over 100 people signed up to be on the teams and spent the day traveling by boat or car to different on-the-water locations to play fun games.

On Thursday, Sept. 1, join Marr-Velous Pet Rescue for a fun-filled Yappy Hour from 6-8 p.m. at Baker’s Cay Resort in Key Largo. Head to Ben’s Garden Grand Lawn (close to the pool entrance for easy access to the bar). The Hammock Beach will also be available if the pups want to take a dip. There will be raffles and retail items available, as well as some of their adorable adoptable pups. Bring your four-legged friends for a “yappy” good time.

That’s all for this week. Don’t forget to check us out at pawsitivebeginnings.org and follow all of our social media accounts to stay up to date with all of our daily photos and videos.

Until next time, Reef, over and out!
