The costume countdown begins…

A few days remain to find the right wig, wings or weapon (assuming it looks fake enough…)

Key West isn’t one of those towns that typically moves holidays around for convenience, weekends or any other scheduling conflicts.

Halloween trick-or-treating will take place on Thursday, Oct. 31, as it does in most of the rest of the world.

New Town neighborhoods and the Key Haven community each year cater to costumed crowds of pint-sized princesses, ninjas, vampires, zombies and baseball players.

The neighborhood at Naval Air Station Key West announced on Facebook that trick-or-treating in the Navy neighborhood will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.

The community around 11th Street and Seidenberg Avenue, Peary Court and Key Haven typically teem with friends, families, traffic and short guys on a sugar-high, so law enforcement officials ask that everyone take their time, be mindful and look out for little feet under parked cars.
