Health department warns of scam calls related to false COVID-19 results

Department officials say they will not contact residents seeking medical info

The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County (DOH-Monroe) is warning residents of potential telephone scams regarding COVID-19.

Residents have been contacted by callers stating they are with the Florida Department of Health and request social security numbers and medical information before the caller can provide “COVID-19 results.” These are scam calls.

The Department will not call to ask for social security numbers or medical information.

Any COVID-19 test results must be released in person and will require a photo identification and a signed release of information form.
