IN PICTURES: KEY WEST REALTORS FISH FOR CHARITY

Caught ’em with your bare hands? Nah.

The Key West Association of Realtors this year traded the golf clubs for fishing rods, and sponsored its inaugural sailfish tournament April 27 and 28.

The event raised more than $25,000 for Fair Insurance Rates Monroe (FIRM), a successful grassroots organization that “fights for fair, equitable and affordable property insurance coverage for homeowners, residents and business owners to protect property values and contribute to housing affordability.”
Doubledown Fishing took first place in the tournament, winning $15,000. Natural 2 took home the second-place trophy and $8,000, while Dreamweaver won $5,000 for third place.
The tournament also featured a celebrity guest angler, NHL Coach Mike Keenan, who caught the tournament’s largest tuna.
Sara Salt, a professional angler who’s sponsored by Pelagic, caught the largest kingfish.
Professional angler Rhylee Gerber was named top female angler and below-deck personality.
Kasey Faye won the Top Realtor trophy and Keys Atlantic Realty won Best Brokerage.
The first-year tournament included more than 10 boats and 25 anglers.
