IS ABUNDANCE ONLY ABOUT MONEY?

When it comes to what makes you feel abundant, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?

Is it money? A new house? A brand new Range Rover? Or a new boat? Does it sound like I live in the Keys or what?

Now, don’t get me wrong when I say this, I like money too. It amazes me the number of people who don’t like money or think money is “the root of all evil.”

Money is good. Money can help others. However, abundance isn’t only about money. It’s so much more and creates a positive feeling when you realize and embody it.

Over the weekend, my husband, Ryan, and I took a few days to hang out in Fort Myers and relax. However, when we go out to dinner, finding parking for a large vehicle is often challenging.

When we realized our favorite restaurant had valet parking included, I felt like celebrating.

The moment I handed our key to the valet, my blood pressure dropped, and I breathed a sigh of relief. I was on cloud nine. It felt incredible not to stress looking for a parking spot, let alone being concerned we would get blocked in, or hit by another car. Can you relate?

What a simple thing we often take for granted leads to a feeling of abundance.

When we sat down at the restaurant and had our cocktail in hand, I looked at Ryan and asked, “What makes you feel abundant?”

Without hesitation or a moment to reflect, “Bait.” Yep. That’s Ryan. Always thinking about fishing.

The weekend went on like this. We appreciated what little things made us happy. The extra muffins from The Island Cow in Sanibel, going for a walk in Lakes Park, seeing cool birds that we don’t have in the Keys. Oh, and all the cute bunnies. All those things are abundant and often go unrecognized and unappreciated.

But what if you stopped and took a second to look around? I realize I am talking about Fort Myers, but we live in a gorgeous place too.

  • How often do you stand outside like I did this morning after a little rain shower and look for the rainbow?
  • How often do you send admiration to a beautiful white egret?
  • Notice a hibiscus flower that an iguana didn’t eat yet? Yep, That’s my garden.
  • Take a deep breath and admire our beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

About a month ago, I did a Facebook live about a starfish I found floating close to shore at a local homeowners beach. Talk about magical abundance and a rare Keys find. That starfish elevated my mood for the whole weekend. It was amazing.

Abundance is all around us, and when you shift your feeling to positive feelings of appreciation, more magic happens. It’s how it works whether you choose to recognize it or not. That’s correct, “choose.”

Your thoughts, which lead to feelings, are a choice. There are studies on how it’s easier for people to think of negative things versus positive things. Hence the work. Yes, it can be work for some people to shift their mindset and focus on something positive and in appreciation. And remembering is a significant part of the process. But the positive is more powerful if you can shift your mind to do that.

And here we are blessed to live in this abundant place. Why not make a choice and shift?
