On Oct. 1, the Marathon High School volleyball team traveled to Key West. They went in with a 10-7 record, but had a bad night, losing all three sets — 25-14, 25-8, 25-15. On Oct. 2, the team rallied with a win over Palm Glades.
“Grace Kirwan has really stood out over the last two weeks,” said Coach Kevin Freeman. She had 12 kills against Palm Glades and six aces.
MHS is the No. 2 seed going into the district playoffs, which begin the week of Oct. 15.
Next up, the team plays at Archimedean at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, while the JV team tackles Island Christian School, also an away game, at 5 p.m. On Wednesday, Oct. 10, both the JV and varsity teams play at home starting at 4 p.m. against the SLAM charter school academy from Miami.
