obituary:Carl Leslie “Les” Martin

Born January 2, 1938, Les Martin joined our Heavenly Father on April 8, 2021. Les was born in Whitesville, West Virginia. He graduated from South High School in Columbus, Ohio where he lived until the family moved to Lakeland, Florida in the ’70s. He worked as a roofer most of his life until he moved to Marathon and worked as a bridge tender on Boot Key Bridge until he retired. Once retired, he moved to Ridge Manor Estates in Webster, Florida. He was a proud member of the Dade City Moose and he was best known for his love of gambling, beer, and pretty women. 

Carl is preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Wanda Williams-Contich and sister Carolyn Martin. He is survived by his loving family: son Michael Martin of the Philippines; niece Lorie Mullins, nephew Eric Myrmel, and great niece Malanna Myrmel of Marathon; great nephew Jesse Gallo of the U..S Navy and his wife Juna, their son Musashi; nephew Steve Lowry and his wife Veronica, their children Olivia, Eve and Stella of Tampa; nephew Burt Williams and his wife Tammy, their children Amanda and Chandler of Stuart, Florida; nephew Brian Martin and his wife Christina, their children Brianna, Chrissy and Hanna of Missouri; his best friend Ed “Pappy” Papaneri and his wife Alice of Dade City, and the many friends he met along the way. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at his local watering hole, Miller’s Lighthouse in Dade City, at a later date.
