The second annual dog walk is set for Saturday, Feb. 24 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Key Colony Beach Golf Course. The event is a fundraiser for the Marathon campus of the Florida Keys SPCA. Registration donations of $10 for well-behaved pets on a leash will help the animal shelter raise money to support adoption and spay/neuter programs. A $40 donation comes with a T-shirt.

“In our first year, we had about 50 people come out. This year we are hoping for double the amount of people and to double the amount of funds raised,” said Tara Vickrey, shelter director in Marathon.

She said the walk starts at the gazebo on 7th Street in Key Colony Beach and meanders around the golf course.

“It’s just a fun way to get our selves and pets out and about while raising money for the shelter,” she said.

Every registrant is entered into a raffle for some prizes at the end of the walk. For more information, call 305-743-4800.
