The Florida Keys Scenic Corridor Alliance has thanked Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay and the sheriff’s office for a $5,000 donation to support the alliance’s efforts to maintain and beautify the Florida Keys Scenic Highway.

The donation will be used to buy safety and cleanup gear for volunteers, including custom high-visibility vests, bright orange logo hats, and litter grabbers to help in organized highway cleanups throughout the Keys.

Ramsay has long been a vocal advocate for keeping the Florida Keys safe, clean and connected. He has shown a commitment to community partnerships and environmental stewardship.

“The Florida Keys Scenic Corridor Alliance is incredibly grateful for this support,” said Julie Cheon, secretary of the alliance’s board. “Sheriff Ramsay’s contribution not only helps us keep the scenic highway beautiful and safe, but also energizes our volunteers and reinforces the community spirit that defines the Florida Keys.”

Established in 2007, the alliance serves as the corridor management entity for the Florida Keys Scenic Highway, the portion of U.S 1 between MM0 in Key West and MM110, north of the bridge over Jewfish Creek. The alliance’s mission is to enhance the scenic image of the Keys, preserve its heritage and cultural diversity, and promote its natural beauty.
