Being fiscally savvy is not necessarily one of the core high school courses, but maybe it should be. As part of the annual Financial Fitness Tournament hosted by Keys Federal Credit Union, five teams of students from Coral Shores High School competed against each other. Questions touched on life insurance, APR rates, the benefits of budgeting and more. As students challenged themselves to answer questions that many adults struggle with, they learned critical life skills to help them become financially independent and responsible. The winning team, sponsored by Keys Weekly, will face off against the top teams from Marathon and Key West, and the Keyswide winner will go to a statewide competition. The winning students all responsibly said they’d be saving their winnings for school.
