The artist known simply as Wyland, who has donated colorful marine-themed murals to local Florida Keys communities, was in Key West last week to do some maintenance work on the “Whaling Wall” mural he painted more than a decade ago at the Key West Historic Seaport. The mural adorns a giant wall that once was the exterior of the popular Waterfront Market, and is now Waterfront Brewery. On March 2, Wyland addressed a small crowd that had gathered at the mural to watch the artist at work. Following the mural rehabilitation he hosted receptions and painting demonstrations at his Duval Street fine art gallery.
