ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Ben Hiller

What do you enjoy about being on the baseball team? What I love about being on the MHS baseball team is that once you’ve made it on the team, you’re automatically part of a family. Every season we get closer and closer, which leads us to play better as a team.

How long have you been playing on the team? I made the varsity team freshman year, so this was my third year on the baseball team. I am very happy that my parents signed me up when I was younger, because I’ve loved the game ever since I was 5 years old.

Describe one of your best moments in athletics. I think my best moment on the baseball team came this year. My team was down 3-2 against Palmer Trinity. Luckily, while up to bat, I hit a base-clearing triple to give us the lead. We ended up winning the game.

Coach Gonzales says …  “Always stay humble and work hard.” I know it will take me far in life if I follow this advice; sportsmanship is key to playing a good game.
