A center console style boat reportedly exploded less than a mile off Marathon on the Gulfside Tuesday morning, June 30, sending approximately 10 people into the water.

There no reported life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff’s Office 911 Communicators were notified of the explosion at 10:24 a.m.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the U.S. Coast Guard and a good Samaritan responded to the scene.

There were juveniles included in the group.

Early reports indicate most or all of those on board were wearing life jackets.

A good Samaritan pulled the group from the water.

The Coast Guard reportedly towed the vessel back to a dock on Gulfstream Boulevard where the group was reportedly renting a residence as well the boat.

The victims suffered reported burns, cuts and bruises, but all refused transport to the hospital once ashore at Gulfstream Boulevard.
