A week after a Key Largo restaurant was left with a shattered glass door and carpet doused with gasoline, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a former employee on charges of arson, burglary and criminal mischief.

Terry Wayne Moore, 51, of Key Largo, broke into the Pilot House Restaurant & Marina and set multiple fires, MCSO said.

On Friday, Moore remained locked up at the county jail on Stock Island without bond. He’s due in court on April 9.

“The investigation revealed Moore was a disgruntled former employee and the suspect,” MCSO spokesman Adam Linhardt said in a statement. “A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was booked into jail on Thursday.”

Deputies responded to the Pilot House, 13 Seagate Blvd., at about 7:40 a.m. on March 6, and said they found evidence that multiple fires at the business had been intentionally lit. A neighbor next door had reported hearing a loud banging around 4:30 a.m.

The Key Largo Fire Department also responded. No serious injuries were reported.
