A Key Largo park transformed into a holiday carnival on Dec. 3, as the annual Light Up Key Largo event returned with its traditional tree lighting. Behind the Murray Nelson Government & Cultural Center, children and families tied laces to their skates as they took to the ice rink. Underneath a large tent, children sat at tables as they created holiday crafts with volunteers. A A line eagerly waited to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, and a group of children sat for a little reading time. Numerous vendors and nonprofits were also in attendance, as well as the Keys Community Concert Band to provide holiday tunes. The event was put on by the Key Largo Preservation Foundation.
