KEY WEST HONORS JUNETEENTH WITH CEREMONY, PARADE & CARNIVAL

Key West’s Carnival and Juneteenth celebrations will start with an Opening Night Ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, June 18 at Higgs Beach. Guests are welcome to dress in African garb.

An all-day celebration takes place Saturday, June 19, starting at 7 a.m. at the Key West Amphitheater. Live entertainment and a Caribbean food court will be available throughout the day. 

The Key West Carnival Juneteenth Parade steps off at 4 p.m., but entertainment will continue at the amphitheater. The parade will return to the amphitheater between 6 and 7 p.m. for the continued musical and dancing celebration.

To join the parade, you must be in costume. There are five categories to choose from: Jungle, Island, Fete, Pan and Pleasure. Call 305-834-2143 to purchase costumes. African gowns can be purchased at the Church Hall of Trinity Presbyterian Church. Call 305-296-3318.
