A 26-year-old Clearwater man was arrested on Oct. 3 for reportedly stealing more than $2,400 in goods and services at an Islamorada resort. He is the second suspect in the case to be arrested.

Malachi Ethan Keasler was charged with grand theft, possession of another person’s (over the age of 60) identification, and scheme to defraud.

Codefendant Emma Camille Wallace, 24, of Hollywood, Florida, was arrested and booked into Monroe County jail in December 2025 on similar charges.

The sheriff’s office was called to the Cheeca Lodge & Spa in September 2025 after a guest discovered nearly $900 in drinks, food, shirts, hats, and other sundries had been charged to her room without her knowledge or consent. Resort security soon learned more illegal charges were made in which the resort issued reimbursements for a total of approximately $2,419.

Sheriff’s office detectives worked with resort security as well as the Clearwater Police Department on the case.

Warrants were issued for Keasler’s arrest and he was booked into jail in Monroe County on Saturday.
