Scott Fitzgerald smiled over the Southernmost City this past week, as the Key West Business Guild held its Great Gatsby party at Key West Steam Plant. Dozens of members arrived in themed costumes ranging from grand event attire to “flapper” glam. The post-war themed party raised funds to benefit the KWBG and, once again, proved the Business Guild’s uncanny prowess at mixing business and pleasure.
“Our island loves to dress up and have fun,” said KWBG Executive Director Matt Hon. “We had three board members who spearheaded the idea and ran with it and the evening was a huge success.”
The evening was produced by KWBG board members Alan Beaubien, Kaleb Smith and Michael Ingram. Ingram graciously hosted the roaring affair, transforming his residence into the fictional mansion Jay Gatsby once inhabited along the shores of West Egg. Due to the success of the party, Hon says other themed parties are already in the works and reminded members and friends to “keep your eye out” for the next opportunity.
