ROBY IS NEW DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH ADMINISTRATOR

Mark Roby

The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County (DOH-Monroe) has removed the “interim” from the titles of Mark Roby.

Roby joined DOH-Monroe in January 2023 as director of nursing. He has been serving as the interim administrator and health officer since April 2026. His permanent appointment took effect June 10.

“I am committed to ensuring that DOH-Monroe remains a trusted and responsive partner for every member of our community, steadfast in our mission to protect, promote and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts,” said Roby.

Roby holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from George Mason University, a bachelor’s in psychology from Virginia Tech, an MBA in human resource management from the University of Phoenix, a master’s in nursing education from the University of South Florida, and a doctorate in nursing practice from Capella University. He previously was the dean of sciences and nursing at the College of the Florida Keys.

“Dr. Mark Roby’s extensive public health leadership and deep understanding of Monroe County make him exceptionally well-prepared for this role,” said Becky Keyes, chief of medical and health services for the Florida Department of Health. “His proven commitment to our community gives me full confidence in his ability to serve the Florida Keys with distinction as our new health officer.”
