TWO SOCCER PLAYERS FROM MARATHON HIGH SCHOOL HEADED TO NEW YORK

“You think the weather is cold today, it isn’t. Wait until you get to New York,” said Marathon High School athletic director Lance Martin on April 2. Soccer players Jimmy Gimeranes, left, and Miguel Avena from MHS are headed to play for the Saints at North Country Community College. The campus is located near Saranac, New York, near Lake Placid. 

For the signing ceremony, the players were joined by MHS coaches and school officials, as well as family. There to support Gimeranes was his brother, Randy. Parents Carlos Lagos and Maria Zambrano, as well as brother Rodrigo Aveno were there to supply Miguel on his next chapter. 

The Marathon High School soccer team were district champions in 2021. North County Community College It is part of the State University of New York system. Founded in 1967, the college’s main campus is located in Saranac Lake, New York, and it has additional locations in Malone and Ticonderoga.
