WHAT’S IN A NAME? Sheriff changes spelling.

Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay has announced that he will formally change the spelling of his last name to “Ramsey” on April 1, 2018.

The longtime sheriff also announced that his title will officially have two “r’s” in it from now on.

“Everyone spells it that way anyway,” said Sherriff Ramsey.

Monroe County will pay about $200,000 to reflect the changes on office signs, name plates, arrest forms, websites and squad cars. The sheriff’s badge will remain unchanged, he said, adding “We don’t need to change no stinking badges.”
