Vehicles lined up at Tavernier Towne Center on May 7 as Florida Keys Farm and Mangrove Mike’s Endeavors, in collaboration with Farm Share, fed some 500 individuals and families.
Bags of produce, packages of pork and bottles or orange juice were among the food items that were placed into car trunks by volunteers throughout the morning and afternoon. Once they received their fresh produce and meat, they received a hot meal courtesy of Mike Forster and Mangrove Mike’s Endeavors.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Monroe County Fire Rescue and Candice McCarthy stayed busy directing traffic and informing drivers to have their trunks open and windows up for the safety of all.
Forster and McCarthy say they’re grateful for Tavernier Towne Center and Commodore Realty Inc. for allowing them to host the event at their location.
