A woman is recovering after she was struck by a personal watercraft at Bikini Beach in Key Largo on Sept. 28.
Officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the boating incident off the 18-mile stretch within Barnes Sound. The incident involved a personal watercraft (PWC) carrying two people, which struck a woman who was standing in the water.
A Good Samaritan transported the victim to Gilbert’s Marina in Key Largo, where EMS provided initial treatment for head injuries. She was then airlifted by Trauma Star to a nearby hospital. A Miami-Dade FWC officer responded to the hospital, where the victim was later reported to be conscious and able to speak.
The investigation remains active, and no further information is available at this time.
