Marathon’s Man O’ War 10U baseball team made the Middle Keys proud in the Key West Conch Ball Classic on May 31. Battling their way to the tournament final with an 8-1 win over Conch Ball 9U and a 3-1 victory over the Sarasota Shock 10U, the Man O’ War came up just short against their southernmost foes, Conchball 10U. Batters Andrew Worthington and Alex Ornelas hammered home runs from the plate, while James Zamora notched a grand slam. Pitchers Evan Paul and Carson Coletti each threw a complete one-run game from the mound. Team members included Beau Irwin, Evan Paul, Blaise Merryman, Jaythan Bibb, Andrew Worthington, Alex Ornelas, Luke Blanton, Abraham Gomez, Taylor Price, Isaac Simcic, Carson Coletti, James Zamora and Owen Loftus, along with coaches James Simcic, Ryan Irwin and Tyler Blanton.
