SWITLIK READERS CASH IN PAGES AT BRAND-NEW BOOK VENDING MACHINE

Avid readers at Stanley Switlik Elementary School now have even more of a reason to feed their cover-to-cover curiosity. Recently installed using grant money from the Michelle Elter Trust, a brand-new book vending machine is the newest addition to the school library. Proceeds from book fairs fund five rows of options for new reads in the machine – but the currency isn’t dimes, nickels or quarters. Students can cash in Accelerated Reading points, earned by finishing books of varying difficulties and passing content tests, in order to claim their prize. School officials told the Weekly that while the machine’s current paint job is passable, it’s already set for a makeover to include the school’s mascot, Switty the Dolphin.
