Key West High’s Beede to photograph Huey Lewis and The News

When Key West High School’s Principal Bosco texted Jason Beede to contact her, his first thought was “What did I do?”  The co-editor in chief of the KWHS’s newspaper The Snapper for the past two years didn’t do anything wrong. What he did was a really great job at photographing his past four years of KWHS major events like prom and sporting events.  Now, Beede is one of three journalists invited backstage to photograph Huey Lewis and The News at their upcoming Keystock concert on Saturday, April 2.

Although, Beede had to ask his mom who Huey Lewis was, he did recognize the song “Power of Love” from the “Back to the Future” movies. Excited and nervous, Beede looks forward to his first major concert experience and is doing his research on Huey Lewis and photographing rock stars.

Beede has already been voted high school senior most likely to succeed and leaves little doubt to why. (He’s already interning with HSPNSports.com.) Following his passion of sports journalism, Beede has already built a website, BeedeFoto.com, devoted to his sports photos and game recaps. The site has had more than 9,200 views and his tweets — @therealBeede — have been seen by 130,000 in the past month due to his live play-by-play tweets of KWHS sporting events. His work has been featured on sports websites such HSPNsports.com, FloridaHSFootball.com and bleechr.com just this school year.  Beede is well on his way as he adds a rock star portrait to his portfolio and heads off to University of Central Florida this fall.
