After its location on Key Colony Beach’s Sadowski Causeway took on four feet of water during Hurricane Irma, The KCB Store Island Gift Shop moved “just around the corner.”

“I’m still here,” said owner Marlene Bartus, who has owned gift shops in the Middle Keys for 20 years. “Just turn left out of Key Colony Beach and I’m here on the right.”

The shop is filled with island-inspired wares, clothing and gifts.

“I really like this new location,” said store manager Stephanie Wood. “A lot of people swing in just to stretch their legs after going through the Grassy Key stretch, and they usually end up buying something.”

From wine bottle holders in shark, pirate, and fishermen themes, to one of the best octopus wine holders in town, the store also has glasses with secret messages in the bottom. “Three Sheets to the Wind,” “Shipwrecked,” and “Down the Hatch,” read some.

In addition to household trinkets, the store offers key lime flavored oils, cookies and chocolates. Local artists Ray Wood and Fiori Ferraris also have their acrylic and watercolors showcased in the store.

And, don’t forget to say hi to Ziggy, the store’s year-old maltipoo. “She runs the show,” said Bartus.
