The Keys Weekly family loves animals as much as our friends at the Florida Keys SPCA do, and we’re honored each week to showcase some “furever” friends that are ready, waiting and available for adoption at the organization’s Key West campus.
From cats and dogs to Guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, reptiles and birds, the perfect addition to your family is waiting for you. The SPCA’s knowledgeable staff will help with advice and care tips while working to ensure a good fit between each pet and its people.
A newborn kitten that was found at a fruit stand in Key Largo, Dexter is somewhere between 8 and 12 days old. When he opens his eyes, caretakers will get a better estimate on his age. A male tiger tabby, Dexter is currently being bottle-fed every three hours by the Upper Keys Humane Society’s manager, Karla. Dexter needs to go through some testing first before he goes to his forever home. If you would like to make Dexter a part of your family, or to learn more about other pets available for adoption, give UKHS a call at 305-451-3848. UKHS is a not-for-profit no-kill shelter that provides food, shelter, medical care and adoption services for unwanted and abandoned animals. Mancha is a 4½-year-old male American pit bull mix.Bunnie is a 5½-year-old female American rabbit.Dimple is a 4½-year-old female domestic shorthair.Millie Moo is a 5½-year-old female, medium mixed breed.Old Baby is a 13-year-old female domestic shorthair.
The SPCA’s Golden Paw program also provides special assistance with vet bills and medications for special-needs and older animals that require a little extra TLC.
Check these pages each week for just a few of the animals waiting for a home and see them all at fkspca.org.
