CANES SPORTS STANDOUT: KAILEE MCDANIE

The Upper Keys Weekly is proud to partner with the Coral Shores Athletic Department to highlight this week’s “Canes Sports Standout.” Recipients are chosen on qualifications of academic excellence, academic standing and community involvement. We thank our future leaders and the CSHS Athletic Department for allowing us to share a little “Hurricane Pride.”

KAILEE MCDANIEL

A member of the Canettes dance team since her freshman year, McDaniel says it’s her favorite sport because “it’s always been such a great way to exercise, have an emotional outlet and make friends all at the same time.” Dancing since age 3, she joined the Canettes to continue her passion while staying involved with sports and spirit throughout high school. Her favorite moment? During her junior year, she can remember a football game when the music shut off halfway through the performance. But it didn’t stop the Canettes from dancing and finishing strong without the tunes. McDaniel will be attending the University of Central Florida where she will major in nursing. She said her mom and grandparents assisted in most of her success by supporting her dancing passion through the years. She also credits her dance teacher, Stephanie Zlockie. Her advice to underclassmen? “Get involved at school and with sports as much as possible because it leads to so many memories.”
