On Thursday, April 12, City of Marathon Manager Chuck Lindsey will be addressing the U.S. Senate in Washington, D.C. He will be testifying in front of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. He is the only speaker from the Keys who was invited to attend.

“I was asked to tell Marathon’s story and speak a

bout our readiness,” Lindsey said on April 10. “I’m honored to represent our city and its residents to highlight everyone’s outstanding efforts responding to the aftermath of Irma, our recover efforts thus far and the challenges we face preparing for the next storm.”

In addition to Lindsey, other speakers include Jamie Miller of the Mississippi Development Authority, Jennifer Pipa of the American Red Cross of Central Florida, two rear admirals (NOAA and Coast Guard) and a member of the National Transportation Safety Board.
