OBITUARY: TOMAR GROSS

Tomar Gross passed away on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023 at his home in Tavernier. He was born Feb. 22, 1973 in Santa Ana, California. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt, working as a fireman in the nuclear department. On July 2, 2000, Tomar married Randy Klein-Gross at Bahia Hotel in Mission Bay, California after meeting at Club Med in Turks and Caicos. They have two kids, Jonah and Oceana. He also had a large extended family, being close to many cousins, nieces and nephews, sharing many memories and good times.

Tomar loved being in the water and found his passion in scuba diving. He started diving at age 8 in Okinawa, Japan and has been involved since, getting a technical degree at the College of Oceaneering. He made many friends throughout the industry through his friendly and welcoming personality; he could be friends with the world. He was a dreamer and always pushed for new ideas.

Tomar and Randy lived together in Southern California where he worked as a set medic for Hollywood and built his own business while having his son, Jonah, and then his daughter, Oceana. They moved to the Keys in 2014 to enjoy the warm weather and the easy access to the best dive spots. Tomar will have a celebration of life at the Keys Jewish Community Center before being cremated and released in Turks and Caicos as was his longtime wish.
